Warren Green, Ph.D., elected as AChemS Postdoctoral Representative

Dr. Warren Green, a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics and the Center for Smell and Taste, was elected to serve as the Postdoctoral Representative to the Executive Committee of the Association for Chemoreception Sciences (AChemS).

Dr. Green received his Ph.D. from the University of Windsor, where he studied the neuroanatomical and functional organization of the olfactory system of the sea lamprey with Dr. Barbara Zielinski.

In the UFCST lab of Dr. Jeffrey Martens, Dr. Green is turning his attention to investigations of ciliopathy-induced olfactory dysfunction and the mechanisms of regeneration in the olfactory system of mammals. This research could lead to a better understanding of the etiology of olfactory dysfunction and the potential for gene-therapeutic rescue of anosmia.

Dr. Green joins two other UFCST members – Dr. Shawn Dotson (Senior Councilor) and Dr. Steven Munger (President-elect) – as elected members of the AChemS leadership. AChemS is the largest scientific society dedicated to the study of the smell, taste and other chemosensory systems. It’s annual meeting was held in Bonita Springs, Fla., April 20-23, 2016.
