Dan Wesson, PhD, joins UFCST faculty

Daniel Wesson, Ph.D., joined the UF Center for Smell and Taste and faculty this month, making him the 53rd on-campus faculty member for the university-wide research center.

 

Wesson, who is also joining the UF Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics as an associate professor, comes to the University of Florida from Case Western Reserve University, where he was an assistant professor of neuroscience.

 

Wesson researches the neural processing of sensory information in the context of behavior, and much of his research is deeply involved with the chemosensory sciences.

 

Among his research topics is determining how, and why, the olfactory system is vulnerable to early onset dementias, including Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
